Imagine a destination where a dramatic mountain rises above a vibrant city, penguins gather along a beautiful coastline, whales can be spotted from the shore, and the African wilderness comes alive with elephants, lions and leopards. South Africa brings all of this together in one extraordinary journey.
Experience the unmistakable beauty of Cape Town, set between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. Explore the city’s fascinating landmarks and character on a guided city tour, and take a scenic ride to the top of Table Mountain for breathtaking views stretching across the city, coastline and ocean. As you stand at the summit with the city beneath you and the Atlantic stretching into the horizon, take a moment to absorb the sheer beauty around you. It is a view that stays with you long after you have left.
Did you know that Table Mountain is part of the Cape Floral Region Protected Areas UNESCO World Heritage Site? This remarkable region is one of the world’s most biologically diverse areas, home to an astonishing variety of plant species.
When you travel along the spectacular Cape Peninsula, you are greeted by the ocean beside you and dramatic scenery unfolding at every turn. Discover the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, take the iconic Flying Dutchman funicular towards the Cape Point viewpoint, and visit Boulders Beach, where African penguins gather along the shoreline. At Seal Island, watch Cape fur seals swim, dive and play in the waters of False Bay. With the rugged coastline, blue waters and abundant wildlife all around you, the Cape Peninsula feels like a destination made for discovery.
The experience becomes truly captivating at Hermanus, one of the world’s renowned whale watching destinations. During whale season, Southern Right Whales arrive in the sheltered waters of Walker Bay to mate, calve and raise their young. As you stand along the coastline looking out across the vast ocean, a sudden whale surfacing in the distance can turn an ordinary moment into a memory you will treasure for years.
Did you know that Hermanus is famous for land based whale watching, meaning you can often spot these magnificent creatures without even stepping onto a boat? Walk along the famous Cliff Path, breathe in the fresh sea air and keep your eyes on the water. With a little luck, you could witness a whale breaching just offshore.
Did you know that Hermanus even has a traditional Whale Crier, who sounds a kelp horn when whales are spotted along the coast?
Between Johannesburg and Hazyview lies the spectacular Panorama Route, where towering mountains, deep valleys, waterfalls and breathtaking viewpoints make even the journey itself unforgettable. Stop at one of its dramatic viewpoints, look across the vast landscape and let the scale of the scenery sink in. This is South Africa at its most breathtaking.
The adventure continues in the untamed wilderness of Kruger National Park. Covering almost 20,000 square kilometres, Kruger is one of Africa’s largest game reserves. A full day safari brings you into a world where every turn holds a possibility. Watch giraffes moving gracefully through the bush, spot a pride of lions resting in the grass, or encounter the legendary Big Five in their natural surroundings. Here, the thrill lies in never knowing what you might see next.
From Table Mountain to the African bush, from penguins and seals to whales and the Big Five, this journey reveals the remarkable contrasts that make South Africa so captivating.
Come prepared to explore South Africa. Leave with memories that make you want to return.
